Our assessment
Seven connections and a clear need to read billing terms
CyberGhost documents seven simultaneous connections and desktop and mobile apps. Its protocol choices differ by platform, so compatible operating systems alone do not establish that every protocol is available.
Key capabilities
CyberGhost supports seven simultaneous connections, desktop and mobile clients, and compatible routers. Dedicated IP is an optional paid add-on.
Limitations to check
The billing footnote is used for the introductory service period and renewal, because bonus-month headings can differ. Dedicated IP is a paid add-on and is not included in the VPN price.

CyberGhost privacy and no-logs approach
CyberGhost’s no-logs commitment concerns VPN activity and connection records. Its third Deloitte Audit Romania engagement examined the infrastructure and operational controls behind that commitment. This is useful context for judging the service, but a privacy assessment is not a measurement of download speed or a promise that every app is free of defects.
For everyday use, distinguish the encrypted VPN connection from the accounts you sign into. A website can still recognise your account after your IP address changes. CyberGhost is therefore better understood as one part of a privacy setup, alongside browser settings and account security, rather than a way to erase an existing online identity.
Using CyberGhost on desktop, mobile and routers
The 7-device allowance matters most when you plan to leave several apps connected at the same time. A laptop, phone and tablet can fit comfortably within that limit; a larger household should count its active devices before choosing CyberGhost over a service without a fixed simultaneous-device cap.
App availability does not mean identical controls. OpenVPN is covered for Windows, Linux and Android in the current comparison, while the kill-switch coverage established here includes Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Linux kill-switch behaviour remains unverified in this review. Router support also requires compatible hardware and a supported configuration; it is not a guarantee that a stock ISP router can run the VPN.
Server choice, split tunneling and everyday use
CyberGhost’s split-tunneling options need to be read by platform. The Windows option discussed here uses website exceptions, while Android supports app-based exclusions. These solve different problems: excluding a particular website is not the same as sending a whole application outside the VPN tunnel.
For a location-specific task, select the intended location rather than assuming that any server in the country will behave identically. The location associated with an exit IP can affect how a website responds, but it does not replace a phone’s GPS data. Streaming access, game latency and download speed should be assessed on the connection you will actually use; this review does not claim measured results for those activities.
Understanding CyberGhost’s introductory offer
CyberGhost’s low monthly equivalent comes from prepaying for a longer period. The plan table separates the amount charged today from the months included and the later renewal. The billing period is taken from the selected offer’s actual terms, so bonus-month headings are not treated as a reason to extend every plan automatically.
A monthly subscription can make more sense for a short trip even when its monthly rate is higher, because it commits less money upfront. For a longer stay, compare the full initial charge and the renewal period. A dedicated IP is an extra purchase; it should be considered only if a repeatable address solves a specific problem, such as an IP allowlist.
Who should consider CyberGhost?
CyberGhost is a reasonable shortlist option for someone who wants a paid VPN on a manageable number of desktop and mobile devices and can work within its platform-specific controls. Its 7-device limit makes the household calculation more concrete than simply comparing the lowest headline price.
Look at an alternative if you need a verified Linux kill switch, a larger simultaneous-device allowance, or the same form of split tunneling across every operating system. The important comparison is the feature you need on your own device, followed by the total subscription cost—not a long generic feature list.
Plans, first payment and renewal
Introductory offers and renewals are different billing periods. Compare the actual charge and included months, not only an advertised monthly equivalent.
| Plan | First payment | Monthly equivalent | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|
| CyberGhost — monthly | USD 12.99First 1 months | USD 12.99Introductory equivalent | USD 12.99Every 1 months |
| CyberGhost — 2 years + 2 months | USD 56.94First 26 months | USD 2.19Introductory equivalent | USD 56.94Every 12 months |
| CyberGhost — 6 months | Not verifiedFirst 6 months | USD 6.99Advertised only | USD 41.94Every 6 months |
| CyberGhost — 6 months (EUR) | EUR 41.94First 6 months | EUR 6.99Introductory equivalent | EUR 41.94Every 6 months |
The selected long-term offer uses the explicit first-26-month billing terms; duplicate promotional headings on the official page differ. A six-month offer lacks an explicit first charge and is not used for price sorting.

Verified platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android.- OpenVPN
Available for Windows, Android and Linux; platform-specific. Official OpenVPN availability: Windows, Android, Linux; macOS/iOS not listed.
Verified platforms: Windows, Linux, Android.- Kill switch
Automatic kill switch available. Verified on platform-specific Windows, macOS, iOS and Android pages. Linux is deliberately omitted because generic navigation/platform lists do not verify Linux kill-switch behavior.
Verified platforms: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android.- Router support
Compatible router setup supported.
- Split tunneling
Apps or websites can bypass the VPN; platform-dependent. Android excludes selected apps. Windows Exceptions excludes websites/URLs, not equivalent to unrestricted per-app split tunneling. Other platforms not verified.

Questions about CyberGhost
How many devices can connect simultaneously?
7 simultaneous VPN connections.
Is the introductory monthly equivalent the renewal price?
No. It divides the exact first payment by its initial service period. Renewal is shown separately with its own charge and period; an unknown renewal is never inferred from the introductory offer.
Does a supported platform include every feature?
No. Protocols, split tunneling and kill switches can have different platform support. Use the feature descriptions above to check the app you intend to use.
Does CyberGhost support more than 7 devices?
The allowance reviewed here is 7 simultaneous VPN connections. Consider how many devices will actually be connected at once rather than only how many you own.
Is CyberGhost’s dedicated IP included?
No. Dedicated IP is a paid add-on and is excluded from the subscription prices shown here.
