Our assessment

AVG Secure VPN at a glance

AVG Secure VPN is a separate 10-device VPN for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, with Android exclusions and platform-specific protocols.

Key capabilities

AVG Secure VPN is a separate 10-device VPN for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, with Android exclusions and platform-specific protocols.

Limitations to check

Official Mac download-page configuration confirms USD 53.88 / 12 months, USD 105.36 / 24 months and USD 158.04 / 36 months as first charges. The current numeric renewal could not be verified and is left unknown. Direct checkout rendering was unavailable; regional offers may differ.

A standalone VPN, separate from Internet Security

AVG Secure VPN can be used independently of AVG antivirus. Buying AVG Internet Security alone does not activate the VPN; a separate VPN licence or an eligible bundle is required. That distinction is useful if you already pay for AVG products and want to avoid buying overlapping subscriptions. Check your account entitlement before treating another checkout as necessary.

AVG Ultimate is a package containing several products. Its bundle price and device allocation should not be substituted for the standalone VPN offer compared here. AVG Secure Browser PRO is also a separate product with different traffic coverage. A browser VPN entitlement does not automatically establish identical protection for the other programs on your computer.

Multi-device coverage without a Linux client claim

The current multi-device subscription supports up to 10 simultaneous devices across Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Legacy licences can have different limits before renewal, so an existing account should be checked rather than assumed to match a new purchase. A household with several phones and computers should count active sessions and verify each operating system.

A supported Linux installation or manual router-client configuration was not established. Official instructions mentioning IPsec passthrough describe allowing an app connection through a router. They do not provide the configuration credentials and client setup needed for the router itself to run AVG Secure VPN. Treat those as separate capabilities when selecting a service.

Android exclusions and different protocol menus

The provider documents per-app split tunneling on Android. This can keep a selected application outside the encrypted tunnel while others remain connected. Trusted-network rules and local-network bypass serve other purposes, and should not be mistaken for equivalent application exclusions on Windows or macOS. Confirm the exact control needed before using it as a deciding comparison filter.

Current FAQ platform tags list WireGuard on Windows and Android, while macOS lists IPsec and Mimic. Windows and Android also list OpenVPN; the iOS explanation includes automatic OpenVPN wording alongside IPsec and Mimic. Kill Switch is documented on desktop and Android, with Android version and device restrictions. Identical protocol and failure-protection options across every app are not assumed.

First-term discounts versus annual renewal

The observed official US Mac storefront offer lists USD 53.88 for the first year, USD 105.36 for the first two years and USD 158.04 for the first three years. These are multi-device VPN prices, not the price of AVG Internet Security or Ultimate. The monthly equivalent is a comparison aid; the full first amount is the actual commitment.

The current official page configuration confirms those first charges, while a numeric future renewal amount was not established on rechecking. Renewal therefore remains unknown. A crossed-out comparison price is not enough to determine a later charge; confirm the amount, period and regional taxes in the final purchase terms.

Evaluate the specific app and your existing licence

AVG Secure VPN is worth considering when the supported native platforms and ten-device allowance fit your household. An existing AVG account may make managing an eligible licence familiar, but familiarity does not establish that every feature is available on every device. Linux and router requirements should be resolved before purchasing this service.

The FAQ describes connection diagnostics separately from the browsing activity it says it does not record. This assessment does not replace a security audit or include measured speed, streaming access and disconnection tests. Nor was a current dedicated-IP offer established. Test the locations, applications and automatic-connection behaviour relevant to your own use before a longer commitment.

Plans, first payment and renewal

Introductory offers and renewals are different billing periods. Compare the actual charge and included months, not only an advertised monthly equivalent.

Features and platform support

Support can differ between apps and operating systems. Platform coverage and limitations are shown below.

Windows

Native application supported on windows.

macOS

Native application supported on macos.

Linux

Current supported native app platforms are Windows, macOS, Android and iOS; no supported Linux app or manual Linux configuration is established.

iOS

Native application supported on ios.

Android

Native application supported on android.

WireGuard / WireGuard-based protocol

Platform-tagged FAQ lists WireGuard on Windows and Android; macOS lists IPsec/Mimic and iOS lists IPsec/Mimic with automatic OpenVPN wording. Do not assume WireGuard on Apple apps.

Verified platforms: Windows, Android.
OpenVPN

OpenVPN on Windows/Android, and automatic OpenVPN wording on iOS. macOS list uses IPsec/Mimic.

Verified platforms: Windows, Android, iOS.
Kill switch

Windows Getting Started documents Kill Switch; macOS product page and FAQ document it; Android requires Android 8+ and is unavailable on some device types, including Huawei. iOS scope unverified.

Verified platforms: Windows, macOS, Android.
Router support

No official router client configuration verified. IPsec/VPN passthrough instructions concern the router allowing app traffic; they do not establish running this VPN on the router.

Current support not verified.
Split tunneling

Application exclusions documented for Android. Trusted-network exclusion and local-network bypass do not establish desktop per-app split tunneling.

Verified platforms: Android.
Dedicated IP available

No current consumer dedicated-IP purchase option verified; changing server or rotating a shared IP does not reserve one for the subscriber.

Current support not verified.

Questions about AVG Secure VPN

How many devices can connect simultaneously?

Multi-Device subscription permits up to 10 devices simultaneously; app-store or legacy licences can differ.

Is the introductory monthly equivalent the renewal price?

No. It divides the exact first payment by its initial service period. Renewal is shown separately with its own charge and period; an unknown renewal is never inferred from the introductory offer.

Does a supported platform include every feature?

No. Protocols, split tunneling and kill switches can have different platform support. Use the feature descriptions above to check the app you intend to use.

Is AVG Secure VPN included with AVG Internet Security?

No. AVG says a separate Secure VPN subscription or an eligible bundle such as AVG Ultimate is required. The standalone VPN can be used without installing AVG antivirus.

Does AVG Secure VPN support split tunneling on every platform?

The verified application-exclusion instructions are for Android. Trusted-network settings and local-device access do not establish equivalent per-app split tunneling in other apps.

Before you choose

Regional offers, taxes and purchase channels can change the amount billed. Paid add-ons are identified separately, and unavailable pricing remains marked as not verified.
