A configurable VPN rather than an anonymity guarantee
AirVPN presents its service around privacy, net neutrality and resistance to censorship. Its published offering does not require a real email address to open an account. Consider account recovery before leaving that information out: reducing identifying data and recovering a forgotten credential are different practical requirements.
A VPN changes the network path and visible exit address, but does not remove the identity attached to a signed-in website. AirVPN’s configuration options should be used to meet a defined need, not as a substitute for browser privacy settings, device updates or secure authentication. This review does not claim to have independently audited the provider’s operations.
Eddie on desktop and Android, external clients on iOS
Eddie is AirVPN’s official open-source client for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. Desktop installations provide a graphical interface and a command-line option. The Android edition is a separate project, so a feature described for desktop should not automatically be assumed to behave the same way on a phone.
iOS setup uses a separate compatible client and an AirVPN configuration; it is not a native Eddie iPhone application. This can be a significant difference if you prefer an integrated account-and-server interface on every device. Follow the guide for your actual client, and keep exported configuration material private rather than sharing it as a troubleshooting screenshot.
Network Lock is different from a simple disconnect reaction
Eddie’s desktop Network Lock applies firewall rules to restrict traffic outside the VPN. It has operating-system-specific backends: Windows Filtering Platform, Linux firewall tools and macOS PF. Availability can therefore depend on the system configuration, especially when another Linux firewall manager already controls the relevant rules.
Routing exceptions also deserve care. A destination configured outside the tunnel can bypass the lock for that route. This is not the same interface as selecting applications in a universal split-tunneling list. We have not established one consistent current platform matrix for every AirVPN client, so broad app-exclusion support remains unverified in the comparison.
EUR access plans and clearly separated payment periods
The official purchase page currently applies the HALLOWEEN2026 seasonal offer automatically: EUR 18.85 for 6 months, EUR 31.85 for 12 months, EUR 51.35 for 24 months and EUR 64.35 for 36 months. The shorter options remain EUR 7 for one month and EUR 15 for three months. These are full access-period charges, not monthly subscriptions.
The promotion may expire. The price table records the current first charge and does not assume that a later purchase or renewal retains the same discount. The values are offered in EUR by the provider; displayed equivalents in another currency are not substituted as fixed-price offers.
Who should consider AirVPN?
AirVPN is worth considering when you are comfortable checking protocol, routing and firewall settings and want more than a minimal connect button. Five simultaneous connections are documented, so count the sessions you expect to run before choosing it for a household. A compatible router can help some setups, but needs an appropriate configuration.
Our review describes capabilities and purchase terms rather than measured speed or streaming access. Try the actual locations and applications that matter to you before committing to a long access period. Keep port forwarding distinct from dedicated addressing: a forwarded service port alone does not establish that an exit IP is reserved exclusively for your account.

Introductory offers and renewals are different billing periods. Compare the actual charge and included months, not only an advertised monthly equivalent.

No. It divides the exact first payment by its initial service period. Renewal is shown separately with its own charge and period; an unknown renewal is never inferred from the introductory offer.
Does a supported platform include every feature?
No. Protocols, split tunneling and kill switches can have different platform support. Use the feature descriptions above to check the app you intend to use.
Does AirVPN have an Eddie app for iPhone?
